Since 2005, the AgelCares Foundation has changed lives throughout the world by applying donated corporate and individual giving to worthy international projects. Each year, the organization highlights one individual or business as the “Hero of the Year” during the annual AgelWorld Conference where thousands of independent Agel team members come together in Salt Lake City. The 2009 “Hero of the Year” award was proudly given to Denver resident Terri Katz for her exemplary dedication to make a difference in the world. Terri is founder of the Brio Dream Foundation focused on bettering the lives of Brazilian children through the Familia Santa Clara project. AgelCares supports the organizations efforts.

“Each year we strive to find the one person or business that best exemplifies AgelCares Foundation’s ideal to provide leadership, love and compassion to those in need,” said Mica Moseley, Executive Vice President of AgelCares. “Terri’s amazing work with the Brio Dream Foundation supports the AgelCares mission to bring hope to many areas of the world. She has gone well beyond her substantial financial donations by also giving of her time and talents.”

According to Terri, her desire to give more than just money was compelling and inspired her to visit Rio de Janeiro’s Familia Santa Clara project. “I knew this was the place!” she said. Familia Santa Clara takes care of abandoned children, children living under miserable conditions, victims of violence and children rejected by their family or by society. As Terri began to work with the children she worried that the distractions from her business would be detrimental to her livelihood, but was determined to press forward. According to Terri, “The more I got involved, the more my Agel business grew. Today, my business is bigger than ever and we are working towards taking over the books for the Familia Santa Clara in January. I love helping the children with their education and building self-esteem.” Terri coaches others to “forget yourself and don’t focus on the money. Start helping others.” For more information on Terri Katz’s Brio Dream Foundation, visit www.ourdreamfactory.com.
